A story-based approach and thinking skills to teach English in Primary schools
INTRODUCTION
One of the basic aims of the current Teacher Training Programme within Cantabria consists of supporting activities based on the development of oral communication in the foreign language class. This proposal tries to offer a mixed approach for pre Primary and Primary English teachers so that they can acquire different techniques and can witness particular exemplifications of some successful teaching experiences in the British context. Well known tools and approaches like project work, the Bloom´s taxonomy or scaffolding are revisited and reoriented to explore new ways of acquiring not only the foreign language but also a whole range of cross curricular topics.
OBJECTIVES
a) To rethink about our daily practical work within pre Primary and Primary English teaching.
b) To show new theoretical paths so as to explore new practical possibilities in our classrooms.
c) To acquire new classroom management techniques expressed in the foreign language.
